WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF AN ALTITUDE ROOM?
Where do we start, the benefits are endless but not limited to;
WHO BENEFITS OF AN ALTITUDE ROOM?
Everyone
WHAT LEVEL OF OXYGEN WILL THE ROOM BE AT?
Our altitude room can mimic an altitude of up to 3700m where only 13.7% of oxygen is in the room. At sea level, oxygen levels are 20.9%.
HOW LONG SHOULD I STAY IN THE ALTITUDE ROOM?
When starting out, your lowered oxygen level exposure time should be 20 minutes for ample exposure. For a maximum 1-3 times per week.
IS HIGH ALTITUDE DANGEROUS?
High-altitude is no more dangerous than flying. On an airplane, you receive 16% oxygen while altitude training gives you a fraction less oxygen: 13 to 14%. And, given that you are screened prior to entry and with constant supervision, altitude rooms are considered safer than most gyms.
Though if you do have any underlying health/medical conditions we recommend consulting your health physician before entering the altitude room.
HOW LONG IS A SESSION?
The recommended time to spend in our Salt room is 30-45 minutes.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
We see to it that you have everything you need to enjoy your time with us. We will provide towels, shower, robes and a space to change.
WHY DO I FEEL SO RELAXED IN THE SALT ROOM?
The first thing the people experience is a feeling of complete relaxation and relief from stress. The feeling washes over you from head to foot and bathes you in a deeply contented state of being. It’s ideal to just rest with your eyes closed and listen to the relaxing music. The relaxation effect comes from the abundance of negative ions that attract and bind harmful positively charged radicals in your body. This neutralising effect calms the nervous system and cancels out harmful electromagnetic vibrations in the environment as well as in our body.
CAN I GET THE SAME RESULT BY WALKING IN SEA AIR?
Although walking in the sea air is a wonderfully healthy and uplifting experience the salt concentration is not enough to cause most of the therapeutic benefits of a salt room which have 10-15 times greater concentration levels that those found by the sea. A 45 minute session is equal to 3 days by the sea. Additionally, the salt in the sea air is moist rather than dry as in the salt room. This means that the salt particles do not get as deep into the lung tissue and the moist salt air has less of an anti-inflammatory effect.
ISN’T TOO MUCH SALT MEANT TO BE BAD FOR YOU?
Eating too much salt is different to taking salt in through the lungs and skin. Too much dietary salt is linked to high blood pressure due to the anticaking agents (E535 and E 536) which can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke. However the salt we use in our room is therapeutic grade fine ground salt which does not contain anticaking agents and it does not go to the stomach, heart or kidneys. The actual amount of salt that you take in through the lungs is very small in comparison to how much you would ingest with food. If you ate the amount of salt that you breathed in it would be such a tiny amount that it would not cause health problems. When the salt is inhaled however it kills bacteria, reduces inflammation and has a host of other benefits.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE THE SALT ROOM?
For recreational, relaxation and general wellness purposes sessions can be taken as many times as desired. Daily sessions will strengthen your immune system, increase energy levels, improve the quality of your sleep and generally give you a happy disposition.
CAN PREGNANT WOMEN USE THE SALT ROOM?
Halo (salt) Therapy is safe for pregnant women though please consult your health professional if you have any concerns.
WHAT IS AN INFRARED SAUNA?
An infrared sauna, also known as infrared therapy, is a relatively new take on the traditional sauna. An infrared sauna is typically an enclosed space fitted with infrared lighting. A technology that emits light waves at a frequency that the body experiences as warmth.
WHAT ARE THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF INFRARED SAUNA?
An infrared sauna is intended to be a relaxing experience that allows you the chance to enjoy many of the same benefits of a traditional sauna in a new way. Benefits that you can expect include, relaxation, relief from sore muscles and improved circulation. Proponents of infrared therapy will also tell you that regular sessions in the infrared sauna improves the quality of their sleep. Other benefits of why you should use an infrared sauna include; skin healing and rejuvenation, detoxification of toxins in the body, stimulates endorphins, promotes relaxation and reduces stress hormones such as cortisol, boosts immunity, reduces pain and inflammation, reduces cellulite, improves circulation, improves the lymphatic system functioning and it is safe to use daily.
WHAT DO YOU NEED FOR AN INFRARED SAUNA?
We see to it that you have everything you need to enjoy your time with us. We will provide towels, shower, robes and a space to change. We do however encourage you to arrive well hydrated. Many of the benefits of an infrared sauna are achieved by the boost in circulation. Being well hydrated ensures that you are experiencing those benefits to the fullest.
WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER INFRARED SAUNA?
An infrared sauna is intended to be a relaxing and revitalising experience. We encourage you to give yourself ten to fifteen minutes simply to cool down and enjoy the post infrared sauna experience in the Elements Lounge. We encourage you drink water to remain hydrated. This would be the perfect time to enjoy a tea in the Lounge
CAN I WEAR CLOTHES IN AN INFRARED SAUNA?
Absolutely. How you dress is your choice and the most important detail is that you are comfortable.
As a minimum we do require our guests to wear Swimwear. But we do encourage you to consider that the light that reaches your body is what conveys the greatest benefit. So, we do generally recommend that, when it comes to clothing in an infrared sauna, less is more. We provide all of our guests with towels and robes to ensure that the experience is comfortable.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU GET IN AN INFRARED SAUNA?
If you are in an otherwise healthy place, you can enjoy the benefits of an infrared sauna multiple times a week! We encourage our guests to make infrared saunas a regular part of their wellness routine.
Some of our members make it their goal to visit three to four times a week. This is considered the optimal window for most, but how you choose to enjoy the benefits of infrared sauna is up to you. Even irregular visits can be an amazing way to disconnect and take time for yourself.
